Yasir Suhail has been awarded the prestigious K99/R00 Pathways to Independence award by NICHD. This $1M award will help him transition to a faculty career, and will facilitate his work on “Mapping inter-cellular trophoblast-decidual signaling to its effects on invasion related maternal-fetal diseases”.
This is a prestigious grant, and not easy to come by in a mid-level university (we have only had just one person in SDM UConn Health prior to this in the last 50 years). Also a huge achievement for our young Evolutionary Medicine Lab, showing that we put a large value to professional development and mentorship in our academic enterprise.
This is a testament to Yasir’s amazing research productivity and ingenuity, combining his computational and statistical background with perturbation approaches to understand problems related to placentation, and maternal fetal diseases.
A big achievement!
